It is the Chinese New Year season, I couldn’t help myself by joining the Petronas Chinese New Year Photography contest. In my last blogpost, I mentioned that anyone can enter and you can post any photo what fits the idea of Reimagining energy . There are six categories and you may submit as many photos as you like in more than one category. In this blogpost I will be talking about my photo submission and the theme “Reimagining energy”.
“Reimagining energy” simply means preserving an energy. Chinese New Year is a celebration about being together with close ones as well as having fun during the festive season. Energy is often filled in the air due to happiness and laughter from one another. As a human we observe and occasionally try to preserve the energy using our minds. As years goes by, the energy somehow depreciate over time. Photos are the most ideal representation of idea as it helps one to constantly put their mind at work and put ourselves in the situation seen.
The reason I chose this picture is because felt the happiness can be seen through everyone’s facial expression. The Lou Yee Sang symbolizes abundance, prosperity and vigor and tossing of the ingredients can be done by everyone of all ages. The Yee Sang creates a bond as everyone at the table is together to saying various auspicious wishes while tossing it.
Well, it is still Chinese New Year and if you have not gotten any angpao’s yet, remember to join the Petronas Chinese New Year Photography Contest as the contest. The contest runs until 12th February. You might just bring back those angpao’s that Petronas is giving away and your photo being exhibited at GALERI PETRONAS. More details can be found at theirfacebook page.
Hello folks! I’m back once again after months of being away due to assignments and work. Its Chinese New Year once again and that means more ang pao’s, food and visiting. Firstly I would like to wish all my readers a Happy Chinese New Year and I am sure you guys will be excited as I am to see what will the water dragon bring us this year. Like every year, one of those things I notice when surfing facebook, twitter or just watching television is the huge number of Chinese New Year commercial being shown, shared and discussed.
I felt this year the commercial was very well done. Is about a lady working very hard in England and receiving an angpao at the end of the video. I like how Petronas emphasized the message of being grateful despite all the things happening their life . In this video, Petronas did not use any sad scene to deliver their message to their audience as it is something different compared to the ordinary.
Last Tuesday during the launch, Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah, Senior General Manager of Group Corporate Affair Division of Petronas had shared his thoughts on the TVC ad and also had launched their latest “Reimagining Energy” photography contest.
“Energy is everywhere, in everything we do, and especially at this time. It could be the excitement and the bonding during the reunion dinner, or it could be the hustle and bustle of shopping for and decorating the home. It could even be a portrait of the wise grandfather of the family, or a picture of the lanterns that light up our cities,” explained Dato Mohammad Medan.
Petronas also had a session of “Lou Yee Sang” as a symbol of auspicious for the chinese followed by the World’s best lion dance and dragon dance federation, the Kun Seng Keng group was there to close the whole event with a bang!
Also to make this Chinese New Year all the more interesting, Petronas is collaborating with Leica Camera AG to have a photography contest open to all! With the theme “Reimagining Energy”, anyone can submit their photo viaPetronas facebook page and you stand a chance to win great prizes! Photos of selected winners will also be displayed at Galeri PETRONAS

Apollo. One of the most important and diverse of the Olympian deities in Greek and Roman mythology. Thanks to Hydraskins,I have received an Apollo 18 Limited Edition Laptop Skin worth Rm80 from them. There are only 150 pieces Worldwide. You can say its an Authentic Laptop Skin from the Apollo 18.
Inside the package: Laptop Skin & Instruction manuals.
In this blogpost, I will be teaching you how to apply the Laptop Skin with only 4 simple steps. On the instruction manual, they have written 9 steps and I didn’t follow 5 of the steps.
First you need a scissors/blade and a ruler +pencil.
Measured your laptop skin to your laptop size using the ruler and draw a line on the grid which can be found at the back of the skin. The grid is there to make things easier. So if you dont have a crafty hand like me, you can still cut it perfectly.
Next is pasting the skin. What makes it easier, Hydraskins skin allow you to apply it without having to worry about air bubbles. When it comes to pasting this kind of thing, I usually do not have much confidence. When I pasted this skin, I managed to put it perfectly without any air bubbles at first try. Pretty amazing huh?
If you face any bubbles, just peel the skin from your laptop and put it back again. Then use a cloth and start rubbing from left to right in a zigzag motion. There shouldn’t be any bubble left under your skin.
And you are done!
My laptop is now ready to go on the Apollo 18 mission this coming 8th of September.
Be sure to check the movie out. For those who does not know what the movie is about, it is basically a story of an abandoned Apollo 18 mission, where two American astronauts were sent on a secret expedition and the reason why they never gone back to the moon. Watch the trailer below and tell me what you think!
